It is the policy of the Pohnpei Legislature that appointment of the staff of the Legislature shall be based on qualifications and experience. In making appointments, first consideration will be given to those applicants who are Pohnpeian citizens. Only after it has been determined that there are no qualified Pohnpei citizens in the position shall (second) consideration be given to the citizens of the other States of the FSM, and third to be given to U.S. citizens and other Third Country.

- Starting Salar: PL-17/1($15,497.00 annually + COLA)
- Location: Office of the Speaker, Pohnpei Legislature
The Public Information Officer shall report to the Speaker. It shall be the duty of the Public Information Officer to, upon approval of the Speaker or the Speaker designee to:
- Disseminate information on the activities of the Legislature to the Public
- Prepare press releases, radio and television broadcasts relative to the Legislation before the Legislature and its Committees and infromation of a general nature;
- Prepare daily digest of the programs and activities of the Legislature and its Committees for immediate distribution to Members and interested persons;
- Answer questionsand requests from the government agencies, public media and concerned persons and requests regarding the activities of the Legislature;
- Arrange interviews for Legislators with the various media.
